About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Nursery Worker to join our team at JRT Nurseries Inc. as a Plant Care Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily care and maintenance of our plants, including spraying or dusting with insecticides and fungicides, mixing and preparing soils, and transplanting seedlings or rooted cuttings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plant Care: Spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides to prevent pests and diseases.
  • Soil Preparation: Mix and prepare soils to ensure optimal growing conditions for our plants.
  • Transplantation: Transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings to larger pots or directly into the ground.
  • Assistance with Grafting: Assist in grafting activities to combine different plant species.
  • Watering and Tending: Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens to ensure they receive the necessary care.
  • Cleaning: Clean the work area to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Product Knowledge
  • Deciduous Trees: Assist in the care and maintenance of deciduous trees, including pruning and fertilization.
  • Ferns and Perennials: Care for ferns and perennials, including watering, pruning, and repotting.
  • Berry Bushes and Fruit Trees: Assist in the care and maintenance of berry bushes and fruit trees, including pruning and fertilization.
  • Ornamental Trees, Shrubs, and Hedges: Care for ornamental trees, shrubs, and hedges, including pruning and fertilization.
  • Seasonal Plants: Assist in the care and maintenance of seasonal plants, including watering and pruning.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
  • Physical Demands: The role requires physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Weight Handling: The ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) is required.
Experience and Training
  • Will Train: We are willing to train the right candidate for this role.
