We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Apprentice to join our team at ABM Plumbing & Heating Services Inc.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will assist our experienced plumbers in performing a variety of tasks, including reading blueprints, preparing tenders, and instructing apprentices.

Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine plumbing system layouts
  • Prepare and submit tenders and quotations for plumbing projects
  • Instruct and mentor junior apprentices in plumbing techniques and best practices
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, soldering, brazing, and welding equipment
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
  • Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing
  • Estimate costs and materials for plumbing projects
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required shape and size
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in plumbing
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, wet/damp environments, and at various locations
  • Physically demanding work requiring bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to work accurately
  • Excellent client focus, judgement, and teamwork skills
