Job Summary

My Sea to Sky is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our organization into its next chapter. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit leadership, fundraising, and partnerships, with a proven track record of success in growing organizations with strong community support.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the sound financial management of My Sea to Sky, including creating annual budgets and working closely with the bookkeeper and treasurer to maintain financial records and monitor performance.
  • Create and execute a financial health plan for My Sea to Sky, including identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand and diversify MS2S funding for longer-term sustainability and establishing annual fundraising goals and deliverables.
  • Lead all donor relations, including cultivating positive relationships with foundation funders, monthly donors, one-off donors, and major donors.
  • Oversee grant applications, grant management, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure that appropriate financial systems and controls are in place to meet the needs of the organization and its funders. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to fundraising.
Program Support & Strategic Planning
  • Develop and oversee the effective planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of My Sea to Sky's operations, campaigns, and programs.
  • Work closely with the Campaigns & Communications Director to plan and implement new programs, campaigns, or initiatives to address emerging needs and opportunities as they relate to the organization's mission and strategic plan.
Human Resources
  • Oversee staff management, development, training, and mentoring to ensure that the My Sea to Sky team are supported to achieve their full potential.
  • Lead a robust staff recruitment process.
  • Support volunteer engagement and retention, including attending volunteer trainings, events and identifying opportunities to deepen volunteer engagement.
  • Maintain a productive relationship with the My Sea to Sky Board of Directors.
Communications
  • Represent My Sea to Sky in social media and in print, radio, and television interviews, and public speaking engagements.
  • Ensure effective internal and external communications in line with the strategic plan.
Partnership & Government Relations
  • Engage with decision-makers and elected officials to advocate for My Sea to Sky campaign and policy priorities.
  • Engage with stakeholders to establish strategic partnerships and support the implementation of mutually beneficial initiatives.
  • Actively participate in coalitions and networks as required.
Board Development & Support
  • Attend board meetings and provide regular updates on campaigns, programs and progress against the strategic plan.
  • Assist in the orientation and development of new Board Directors.
  • Support the Board to advance My Sea to Sky's fundraising objectives.
