About the Role

West Fraser Mills Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Planning Forester to join our team. As a Planning Forester, you will play a critical role in ensuring the sustainable management of our forest resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement forest management plans to meet the company's objectives.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including cut block and road layout, to ensure efficient and safe harvesting operations.
  • Design and implement harvesting and road plans to minimize environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with government agencies and First Nations to ensure compliance with regulations and community engagement.
  • Administer contracts and supervise forestry operations to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Integrate wildlife and environmental values into harvest area designs to minimize ecological impact.
Requirements
  • Possess a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Professional Forester Tech (RPFT) designation for Alberta (or be eligible and willing to earn this designation).
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions and have a strong physical ability to perform fieldwork.
  • Be highly motivated and organized, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and delivering results.
  • Have experience in harvest area design and layout, as well as contract administration and supervision.
