About the Role

BC Hydro is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to lead the commissioning and in-service of equipment at our Site C project. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the project in accordance with contract scope, specifications, and IFC drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commissioning and in-service of equipment to ensure project delivery in conformance with contract scope, specifications, and IFC drawings.
  • Prepare system-specific commissioning plans and procedures that align with technical standards, contractual specifications, and consolidated Inspection and Test Plan (ITPs).
  • Test and commission systems by reviewing and accepting test results.
  • Support development of isolation requirements and collaborate with plant operators for equipment and system-specific isolation and testing.
  • Support development of equipment and system Fit for Service (FFS) and Completion's deliverables to support handover to BC Hydro Operations.
  • Use construction and commissioning experience to proactively anticipate, identify, and assist with the mitigation of commissioning and in-service risks.
  • Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and technical guidance to commissioning team members and coordinate work.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to project stakeholders and regulators.
  • Provide safety leadership, monitoring, and planning for the team.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree or engineering technology degree/diploma recognized in Canada.
  • Registered or eligibility for registration as a professional engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
  • A minimum of twelve years of experience in Electrical Engineering, including proven knowledge and experience in specification writing, design, and/or testing and commissioning for major electrical or protection and control (P&C) equipment at generating stations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency as a senior engineer leading complex multidisciplinary work.
  • Experience with construction of hydroelectric facilities.
