Part-Time Racquet Technician

The Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club is recognized as one of the premier private racquet facilities in the region. Catering to a diverse membership, the Club provides outstanding programming in tennis, badminton, squash, fitness, and aquatics, along with an array of social events and dining options.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Club is currently in search of a Part-time Racquet Technician. The successful applicant will be expected to fulfill the role promptly.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Sport Shop serves both members and guests who are enthusiasts of tennis, badminton, squash, aquatics, and fitness.
This position is part-time, with scheduled shifts on Sundays from 9 AM to 5 PM and Wednesdays from 4 PM to 7 PM. Additional weekday shifts may be available to support the Sport Shop Supervisor with inventory management and other administrative tasks as required.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
This role reports directly to the Sport Shop Supervisor and the Athletics Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stringing a significant number of tennis, badminton, and squash racquets.
- Providing assistance to members regarding sports products, primarily focusing on tennis-related items, and guiding them in selecting the most suitable options.
- Handling correspondence via phone and email.
- Addressing member inquiries related to court reservations.
- Assisting members with online court bookings while ensuring compliance with club regulations.
- Educating members about booking policies.
- Monitoring court activities and enforcing club regulations as necessary.
- Maintaining the organization of the shop, including tasks such as folding apparel, restocking, and cleaning.
- Replenishing supplies of tennis balls, badminton shuttles, and squash balls at Member Services as required.
- Assisting the Sport Shop Supervisor with monthly inventory tasks.
- Performing additional shop-related duties as assigned by the Sport Shop Supervisor or Athletics Director.
- Engaging in various administrative tasks related to the operation of the Sport Shop.
- Supporting events and tournaments as needed.
- Carrying out other administrative responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in racquet stringing, with a primary focus on tennis.
- A strong background in tennis, along with knowledge of various sports products and lines. Familiarity with squash and badminton is advantageous.
- Experience in a retail setting.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work proactively and independently.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Office and point of sale systems.
- A professional, friendly, and positive demeanor.

Please note that staff members are not permitted to utilize club facilities, and this part-time position does not include benefits.
