Position Overview:
We are seeking a Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical operations of our fleet. The ideal candidate will ensure that all activities align with company policies, governmental regulations, and client expectations. This role involves significant travel, both domestically and internationally.
Core Responsibilities:
The Technical Superintendent will serve as the primary management representative for assigned vessels, with key responsibilities including:
Vessel Management- Provide direct assistance to vessels.
- Ensure the safe and effective operation of engineering functions.
- Conduct inspections and visits to vessels, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and addressing major breakdowns.
- Monitor vessel performance and environmental impact.
- Maintain established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure continuous operation of vessels, minimizing downtime.
- Manage projects and additional responsibilities as directed by senior management.
- Supervise the maintenance and repair activities of vessels.
- Oversee the execution of the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
- Develop specifications for layup work using appropriate planning tools.
- Review and ensure timely reporting of all Ship-Out of Service (SOS) forms.
- Coordinate dry-docking and related inspections.
- Manage the work of shore-side contractors.
- Engage with external regulatory bodies including flag, class, and port state authorities.
- Review safety management committee meeting records.
- Participate in internal audits of company vessels.
- Lead investigations into any incidents or accidents.
- Prepare and manage budgets for assigned vessels.
- Contribute to fleet planning efforts.
- Coordinate with logistics and purchasing teams to ensure efficient supply delivery.
- Collaborate with the Fleet Personnel department to schedule qualified engineering staff.
- Provide input on crew training and development needs.
- Conduct performance evaluations for key personnel.
- Work with sales and traffic departments to understand customer service needs.

- Participate in marine emergency response and after-hours support.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Maritime Studies, preferably in Marine Engineering.
- Class One certificate of competency is mandatory.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in technical and managerial roles preferred.
- Demonstrated success in maritime organizations.
- Strong understanding of quality and regulatory standards (ISM/ISO) and the ability to conduct investigations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to analyze technical information and lead teams effectively.
- Valid passport and driver's license with no travel restrictions.
