Systems Engineer: Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our Research and Development team at Photonic. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for optimizing operational systems, reducing product lifecycle costs, and enhancing overall system performance.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Comprehensive System Analysis: Perform standards analysis, including Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) analysis, Sparing analysis, Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Develop and Maintain Standard Operating Procedures: Author and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Maintenance Procedures, and Troubleshooting Procedures, including preparation of artifacts for inclusion in technical publications.
- Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Consult with engineering teams to implement improved operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions, ensuring improvements/fixes are implemented consistently across systems.
- Interface with Multiple Teams: Interface with multiple teams within our R&D department, fostering strong relationships and acting as a key connection point.
- Assess Product Designs: Assess product designs and recommend design modifications to eliminate or reduce operator errors or system malfunctions.
- Manage Critical Spares and Parts: Conduct planning and assessments to ensure critical spares and parts are managed in accordance with utilization needs.
- Generate Maintenance Plans: Generate maintenance plans and schedules aimed at optimizing availability of critical assets.
- Conduct Root Cause Investigations: Conduct root cause investigations and report on recommendations for resolution, including leading problem investigations that require command and control of multi-disciplinary task forces.
- Collect and Validate MTBF Data: Collect and validate mean time between failure (MTBF) data from original equipment manufacturers and produce the same for Photonic systems, including harvesting field data.
- Conduct Research and Development: Conduct research that tests or analyzes the operation or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
- Develop and Maintain Productive Relationships: Develop and maintain productive relationships with various stakeholders to support collaborative efforts.
- Ensure Alignment with Organizational Goals: Maintain an overarching view of project and team dynamics to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Post-Secondary Education: Post-secondary education (Bachelors, Masters, or PhD) in Engineering, Physics, or in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Complex Systems: Experience with complex, high-reliability systems maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of Product and Process Optimization: Knowledge of product and process optimization complex systems.
- Outstanding Teamwork Skills: Outstanding teamwork skills.
- Excellent Interpersonal and Written Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Cryogenic Systems: Experience with cryogenic system design, operation, or maintenance.
- Experience with CAD Tools: Experience with CAD tools like SolidWorks and Flotherm.
- Experience with Coding Languages: Experience with coding languages (e.g., MATLAB or Python).
- Experience with Vacuum or Cryogenic Measurement Systems: Experience with vacuum or cryogenic measurement systems.
- Experience Troubleshooting Complex Experimental Systems: Experience troubleshooting complex experimental systems.
