Position: Evening Nursing Supervisor

Organization: Homewood Health

As the Evening Nursing Supervisor, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering comprehensive services and programs to our clients. You will provide essential clinical and operational leadership during after-hours, ensuring high standards of care and support within the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate the delivery of patient care and unit operations, ensuring adherence to the nursing care model.
  • Serve as a primary resource for families and community members, addressing clinical emergencies and infection control matters.
  • Monitor critical incidents and manage patient and family feedback effectively.
  • Direct the workflow and enhance the productivity of nursing staff, including charge nurses, through effective supervision and engagement.
  • Consult on complex clinical decisions regarding patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Facilitate collaboration and conflict resolution within the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assess nursing practices and ensure staff competency in line with professional standards and regulations.
  • Implement and uphold new policies and procedures related to patient care and team operations.
  • Develop nursing standards and protocols in collaboration with unit leadership.
  • Coordinate clinical placements for nursing students and support their educational needs.
  • Lead debriefing sessions and follow-up on critical incidents in partnership with management.
  • Address risk management concerns proactively.
  • Initiate quality improvement initiatives within the nursing unit.
  • Ensure the availability and analysis of key quality indicators for the nursing unit.
  • Assist in budget preparation and maintain compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation standards.
  • Provide guidance and education to support effective care delivery aligned with organizational principles.
  • Manage after-hours crisis responses and initial investigations.
  • Resolve issues related to client care involving staff, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective communication with management and ensure continuity of care and services.
  • Make informed decisions regarding resource utilization across the facility.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Certification in Mental Health Nursing is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Health Management Diploma or equivalent management education is required.
  • Experience with diverse psychiatric and addiction patient populations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Sound clinical judgment and commitment to client-centered care.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and negotiation.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in various software applications.
  • Experience supervising both unionized and non-unionized staff.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety principles.
  • CPR, First Aid, and suicide prevention training; HART training will be provided.
