Position Overview
As a Senior Analyst within the Accounting division at National Bank, you will serve as a tax specialist focusing on estate and trust matters. Your expertise will play a crucial role in managing intricate files and enhancing the client experience through your dedicated approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, acquire, and evaluate tax documents to prepare T3 and TP646 annual tax filings for estate accounts.
- Oversee the book values of investments associated with estates, including the assessment of reinvested income, dividends, interest, foreign income, transactions, capital gains and losses, foreign tax, return of capital, and associated fees.
- Execute accounting entries, issue and manage cheques, submit returns, and liaise with governmental tax agencies regarding their processing.
- Conduct reconciliations for financial statements or distributions pertaining to estate and incapacity files.
- Assist in managing certain estate settlement processes, covering all aspects from asset acquisition to tax obligations at death and distribution.
- Support the preparation of T1 tax returns for individual clients with incapacity files handled by the bank.
- Lead various initiatives and projects within your expertise area.
Your Team
In the Accounting sector of National Bank, you will collaborate with a team of six professionals under the guidance of the Accounting and Origination Manager. Our team is recognized for its tax expertise and commitment to delivering exceptional client service. We offer a hybrid work model to facilitate a balanced work-life integration.
Prerequisites
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, along with three years of relevant experience.
- Experience in individual, estate, and trust taxation.
- Ability to provide informed advice to stakeholders.
- Proficient in analyzing complex issues and synthesizing information from diverse sources.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with TAXPREP software for trusts and personal taxation.
