Position Overview:
The Senior Financial Analyst, Investments plays a crucial role in assisting with the preparation of investment financial reporting, conducting various analyses, and ensuring compliance with IFRS and regulatory standards. This position involves researching and analyzing complex accounting issues while providing general accounting leadership within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Lead the preparation of financial statement note disclosures related to investments and financial risk, ensuring compliance with IFRS standards.
  • Conduct research on IFRS accounting standards and developments, assessing their impact.
  • Prepare investment-related financial information to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Compile financial information for internal decision-making and reporting purposes.
  • Support the Company's Internal Controls over Financial Reporting program.
  • Prepare financial statements and notes for the Canadian Pension Plan, including all supporting entries and reconciliations.
  • Take ownership of specific subject areas, becoming an expert and educating others.
  • Analyze complex accounting issues.
  • Support process improvement, modernization, and automation initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience; public accounting experience is highly valued.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take ownership and become an expert in specific subject areas, educating others.
  • Competent knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
  • Ability to research accounting standards and apply practical solutions to accounting issues.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with a strong sense of urgency.
