About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Support Specialist to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. As an integral member of our school community, you will play a vital role in supporting students with exceptional needs and promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans
  • Assist with academic support, pool programs, and special programs
  • Support students with learning disabilities, speech/language issues, and other exceptional needs
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with school-aged special needs children
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
