Fitness Instructor

Job Summary:
The Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading fitness classes to senior clients under the direction of the Program Supervisor and/or Registered Kinesiologist associated with the program and in line with the certification standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads fitness classes for senior clients.
- Works with clients to achieve their fitness goals.
- Participates in ongoing review and evaluation of service delivery.
- Attends educational in-services as required.
- Provides fall prevention education as directed.
- Reports incidents and ensures timely reporting in accordance with legislation and VON policies.
- Ensures equipment safety and reports defects.
- Functions in compliance with OHS legislation and VON policies.
Education, Designations and Experience:
- High school graduate.
- CCAA Certification as a Seniors Fitness Instructor is an asset.
- 2 years of experience teaching group fitness classes for older adults is an asset.
- Experience promoting health and well-being through physical activity.
- Experience working in an assisted living environment is an asset.
- Bilingual in French/English is an asset.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Attention to detail.
- Lift and carry using proper lifting techniques.
- Bend, push, pull, grip, reach, kneel, crouch using good body mechanics.
- Walk, sit, stand, climb stairs.
- Hand movements.
