Position Overview

As a Senior Analyst within the Accounting division at National Bank, you will specialize in taxation matters related to estates and trusts. Your expertise will play a crucial role in managing intricate files, ensuring compliance, and enhancing the overall client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, gather, and evaluate tax documents to prepare annual T3 and TP646 tax returns for estate accounts.
  • Oversee the book values of estate investments, including calculations for reinvested income, dividends, interest, foreign income, transactions, capital gains and losses, foreign taxes, and associated fees.
  • Execute accounting entries, issue payments, submit tax returns, and liaise with tax authorities to monitor processing.
  • Conduct reconciliations for financial statements and distributions pertaining to estate and incapacity files.
  • Manage certain estate settlement processes, encompassing asset acquisition, inventory, death taxes, and distribution.
  • Assist in the preparation of T1 tax returns for individual clients under incapacity management.
  • Lead various initiatives and projects relevant to your area of expertise.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, accompanied by three years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in individual, estate, and trust taxation.
  • Capability to provide insightful advice to stakeholders.
  • Adept at quickly understanding complex issues and synthesizing information from various sources.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with TAXPREP software for trusts and personal taxation.
