Job Title: Automotive Shop Supervisor

Algoma Steel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automotive Shop Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our shop personnel, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, and promoting a culture of excellence in our operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct shop personnel in day-to-day activities, ensuring maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Identify and communicate breakdown maintenance needs, establishing priorities and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Develop and monitor an annual operating budget, taking corrective action when results deviate from the plan.
  • Optimize the use of operating consumables, minimizing costs while achieving high-quality repairs and maximum equipment uptime.
  • Lead and support recommendation or implementation teams as assigned, ensuring optimal resource utilization and process continuity.
Requirements:
  • Provincial Certification in Heavy Equipment Repair, Truck & Coach Service Technician, or Automotive Service Technician certification.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a heavy equipment repair or automotive repair facility.
  • Experience managing a heavy equipment repair/rebuild or automotive repair facility is an asset.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities, effective interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies.
