About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to join our team at Big Fresh. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment, including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances, and equipment.
  • Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of food, including peeling, slicing, and trimming foodstuffs, as well as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruit.
  • Supply Management: Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
  • Waste Management: Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and ensure that the kitchen is kept clean and free of clutter.
  • Floor Maintenance: Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Support for Diverse Groups
  • Support for Newcomers and Refugees: Assist in recruiting and supporting newcomers and refugees who have been displaced by conflict or natural disaster.
  • Support for Indigenous Communities: Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
  • Support for Visible Minorities: Apply hiring policies that promote diversity and inclusion, and discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities.
