Job Summary

The Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading fitness classes to clients under the direction of the Program coordinator and/or Kinesiologist associated with the program and in line with the certification standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead fitness classes for seniors and vulnerable populations.
  • Work with clients to achieve their fitness goals.
  • Participate in ongoing review and evaluation of service delivery.
  • Attend educational in-services and workshops.
  • Provide fall prevention education as directed.
  • Report incidents and ensure compliance with legislation and VON policies.
Requirements
  • High school graduate.
  • CCAA Certification as a Seniors Fitness Instructor or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience teaching group fitness classes for older adults.
  • Experience promoting health and well-being through physical activity.
  • Experience working in an assisted living environment.
Working Conditions

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics.
