Reporting to the Technical IT Manager, the Senior Infrastructure Solutions Engineer is tasked with overseeing operational protocols and ensuring the availability of level three projects. This individual will serve as the primary 'local authority' for the designated products and systems within the ThinkOn ecosystem. The Solutions Engineer must possess the capability to identify project requirements, devise a viable solution, and assume the technical leadership during deployment. This role will be acknowledged as an authority in ThinkOn's offerings, services, and methodologies, with the capacity to integrate emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and resolve all issues escalated beyond level 2
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, providing mentorship and technical guidance to level 2 team members
  • Identify critical elements of a problem early on and determine the most effective resolution
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders involved
  • Undertake architecture design responsibilities to develop scalable solutions for cloud service providers.
  • Oversee VMware-based virtual platforms and related solutions.
  • Focus on areas including ESXi, vCenter & vCloud with NSX-T
  • Manage backup, replication, Active Directory, and storage solutions.
  • Configure, deploy, and manage physical servers and chassis/blade solutions from vendors like HPe, Cisco, Lenovo, and Dell.
  • Lead level 3 projects and implementations related to assigned products/systems
  • Create documentation for system deployment, operation, and support
  • Provide advanced system problem support, troubleshooting, and analysis for various hardware and software components within ThinkOn systems
  • Maintain close collaboration with all technical and project-related teams within ThinkOn, as well as customers and vendors
  • Conduct system deployment, integration, and support activities throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Offer on-call support for production systems
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
  • Serve as the go-to expert for all ThinkOn infrastructure and services in discussions with Engineering, Architects, and Product teams
  • Evaluate new technologies and develop proof of concept plans for execution
  • Act as the technical leader to provide guidance and planning for the Infrastructure Planning and Implementation Team to roll out new or existing services.
Qualifications:
  • Canadian or Permanent Resident status for over 10 years
  • 5+ years of operational experience with VMware-based virtual platforms
  • 5+ years of operational experience with VMware Sphere (ESXi & vCenter)
  • 3+ years of operational experience with VMware Cloud Director environments
  • 2+ years of operational experience with cloud environments
  • 2+ years of operational experience with NSX environments
  • 3+ years of blades and chassis administration (HPe, Cisco, Lenovo, and/or Dell)
  • 3+ years of fibre channel-based storage administration
  • Strong understanding of routing and switching concepts and technologies
  • Experience in a 24/7/365, multi-tiered large-scale production environment.
  • VMware Certified Professional 6+ (VCP6 or higher)
  • Experience in implementing and/or maintaining VMware vCloud environments
  • NSX-T implementation and management for vCloud environments
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with VMware Tanzu and Kubernetes would be advantageous
  • Familiarity with Hyperflex or HCI PIVOT3
  • Experience in migrating NSX-V to NSX-T within vCloud environments
  • Knowledge of IP networking, routing, and switching
  • Experience with SOC or ISO audit/control related to environmental security
  • Experience with the implementation and/or design of Veeam, Zerto, or CommVault
