Pharmacy Manager Role Summary

This position reports to the Director of Pharmacy Operations and is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications to patients. The Pharmacy Manager will oversee the inventory levels of medications and over-the-counter supplements to meet patient needs, and provide guidance and direction to staff to ensure the financial and operational success of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance and direction to staff to ensure the efficient operation of the pharmacy department.
  • Responsible for hiring and managing the performance of staff to meet the needs of the department.
  • Accountable for the financial and operational success of the department, including preparing and controlling medications accurately and timely.
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels of medications and over-the-counter supplements to meet patient needs.
  • Counsel patients in regards to new and additional medications in a friendly, positive, and proactive interaction.
  • Create awareness and educate customers through public relations, including public health days and clinics.
  • Provide timely and positive resolution to patient needs and doctor's requests/issues.
  • Obtain and review budgeted sales and net contribution.
  • Identify and report sales opportunities both internally and externally.
  • Review and control costs at all levels within Loblaw Pharmacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy and a Class A Pharmacists license is required.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Strong people management skills and the ability to motivate and coach others are necessary.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a strong sense of professionalism are required.
  • Proven ability to build the business using community-based marketing strategies is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the experience formulating and executing action plans, are necessary.
  • Strong personal computing skills, as well as knowledge of Health Watch Pharmacy Computer system, are a definite asset.
