Job Description:

Role Summary:

The Family Service Worker is a critical member of our team at Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services, providing essential support to families in need. As a Family Service Worker, you will be responsible for conducting assessments, providing intervention services, and collaborating with our team to ensure the well-being of children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Intervention: Conduct thorough assessments of risk and provide a range of intervention services to families and their children, including short and long-term support.
  • Case Management: Serve as the primary case manager, responsible for shared decision-making related to child admissions, discharge from Children's Aid Society care, and other critical decisions.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with our service team, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and effective communication.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrate a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures and values, and provide services that are culturally sensitive and responsive.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor of Social Work Degree or BSW equivalency; or Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience working with children and families, preferably in an Indigenous context.
  • Certifications and Memberships: Preference will be given to candidates who are members of, or eligible for membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
