Position: Part-time Permanent Financial Analyst – 0.8 FTE
WellFort is a community-focused, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing health through various promotion and prevention initiatives, alongside providing essential health services.
In this role, reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Finance Specialist will oversee payroll operations, maintain comprehensive payroll and benefits documentation, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. This position also encompasses a corporate aspect, responsible for the management of daily internal financial reporting within WellFort. Additionally, the role involves the planning, design, and enhancement of both manual and automated financial processes. A solid understanding of payroll regulations, computerized payroll systems, spreadsheets, and accounting fundamentals is essential. Collaboration with Human Resources and Finance teams is crucial for addressing payroll-related inquiries and supporting various projects.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management:
- Prepare payroll data and execute the payroll process using the ADP system.
- Calculate and prepare remittances for tax authorities and employee benefits.
- Generate T4 & T4A summaries and conduct annual payroll reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy in payroll and related General Ledger Accounts.
- Maintain payroll records in an organized manner to facilitate audits and respond to payroll inquiries from staff and management.
- Administer group benefits and manage enrollments and terminations.
- Stay informed on payroll best practices and legal obligations to ensure compliance.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to align payroll and scheduling with organizational objectives.
- Assist employees with benefits-related questions and enrollment processes.
- Coordinate with payroll providers to resolve any issues.
Corporate Financial Functions:
- Develop tailored analytical reports for stakeholders in finance-related areas.
- Conduct thorough analyses of financial data and prepare management reports.
- Evaluate reporting requests to determine user needs and production methods.
- Assist in preparing variance reports and other financial documentation as needed.
- Collaborate with Finance and Leadership teams to establish new policies and best practices for financial analysis and reporting.
Financial Support Activities:
- Assist in procurement and reconciliation processes.
- Support bank reconciliation and tax remittance activities.
- Contribute to budget preparation and forecasting as required.
- Assist with audit processes as necessary.
- Support funder reporting requirements.
- Help prepare month-end, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Provide coverage for the scheduling coordinator when needed.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Business Administration or Accounting program, with progress towards a CPA designation considered an asset.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in Finance, Accounting, and Payroll, ideally within a health-funded organization.
- Familiarity with ADP payroll software is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with financial software such as Great Plains and FRx Reporter is beneficial.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Comprehensive understanding of payroll processes, tax laws, and employment regulations.
- Capable of analyzing payroll data for accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
- Knowledgeable in time and attendance systems.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $58,211 - $67,514 (pro-rated to FTE), based on experience.
The compensation package includes health and dental benefits along with pension options.
