Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Front End Developer to join our development team at Discovery Village at the West End – IL. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing engaging and responsive user interfaces that align with our brand and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Develop dynamic user interfaces using front-end libraries and frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
  • Optimization: Optimize web applications for speed and performance, employing techniques like lazy loading, caching, and minification.
  • Staying Up-to-Date: Stay updated on the latest front-end technologies, trends, and best practices, and incorporate them into development projects.
  • Code Review: Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality, consistency, and adherence to coding standards.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and debug issues in web applications, and provide timely solutions to technical challenges.
  • Collaboration with Designers: Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure the seamless integration of design elements and interactions.
  • Accessibility and Usability: Ensure the accessibility and usability of web applications for all users, including those with disabilities.
  • Maintenance and Updates: Maintain and update existing web applications with new features, enhancements, and improvements.
  • Agile Development: Participate in agile development methodologies and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Front End Developer with a portfolio showcasing front-end development projects.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with modern front-end libraries and frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js, etc.). Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative coding workflows.
  • Soft Skills: Strong understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, communicate effectively, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Performance Optimization: Knowledge of performance optimization techniques and best practices.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with CSS preprocessors (such as Sass or Less) and build tools (Webpack, Gulp) is a plus. Understanding of backend technologies and basic knowledge of RESTful APIs is a plus.
