Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teacher to fill a Long Term Occasional position in our Intensive Support Program. The successful candidate will provide support and build capacity for staff in schools in developing programs and interventions for students identified with exceptional needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and support Ministry of Education initiatives, including those outlined in Policy/Program Memorandums 140/156
  • Track and report implementation of PPM 140/156
  • Support schools with the implementation of PPM 8 (Students with Learning Disabilities)
  • Work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and system staff to enhance programming for students with exceptional needs
  • Facilitate school/community agency relationships and liaise with community agencies to enhance programming and supports for students with exceptional needs
  • Work collaboratively with school and system staff, parents, and service providers to enhance transitions for students with exceptional needs
  • Support and deliver multi-modal professional learning and supports for schools and system staff in developing programs and interventions for students with exceptional needs
  • Facilitate and build capacity in assessment and evaluation that informs teaching practice
Requirements
  • An Ontario Teacher's Certificate of Qualification
  • Special Education Part 1
  • Hold Qualifications in 2 divisions, 3 preferred
  • Specialist qualification in areas such as Special Education, ESL, FSL, Reading or Math an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
  • Member of the Ontario College of Teachers in good standing
Working Conditions
  • Salary - grid plus travel allowance
  • Term - maximum one school year
  • Travel will be required as part of this position
  • Ability to facilitate virtual meetings and professional development are required for this position
