Category Management Senior Advisor

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Strategic Procurement (Indirects), the Senior Category Specialist will leverage extensive strategic expertise in procurement, focusing on category management, strategic sourcing, contract lifecycle management, and supplier relationship management. The category portfolio will concentrate on third-party expenditures, particularly in IT and Digital initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal business stakeholders to develop and implement effective category strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers to align with business objectives and supplier interactions.
- Engage with internal category teams and business partners to gain a thorough understanding of business needs, establishing both short-term and long-term goals.
- Oversee contract renewals and lead strategic sourcing activities, including scoping, spend analysis, sourcing, negotiating, and contracting.
- Direct the RFx process and assist in crafting negotiation strategies for agreements of small to medium value/risk.
- Conduct thorough market research, assess supplier capabilities, and analyze industry best practices and technology trends to enhance competitive positioning.
- Ensure adherence to purchasing policies, ethical standards, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Formulate and execute category and sourcing strategies that directly impact the company's financial performance and growth objectives.
- Manage supplier contracts and governance programs to ensure expectations are met and compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Drive and report on Procurement Key Performance Indicators, including cost savings, spend management, and supplier rationalization.
- Ensure financial targets are achieved and monitor cost-saving initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Strategic Procurement Leadership Team to create and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing procurement process efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Over 7 years of progressive experience in leading strategic projects, procurement, contract management, category management, or sourcing within designated categories.
- Exceptional relationship-building, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Familiarity with source-to-pay tools, including e-sourcing, contract management, and spend analytics.
- Knowledge in categories related to cargo, ground handling services, or direct labor agreements is considered advantageous.
- Strong negotiation, contracting, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- A willingness to learn, mentor, and be mentored.
- A Bachelor's degree in business or a related field; a Supply Chain Canada designation is an asset.
