Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Island Health. As a MHSU Clinician/Leader, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and leading our mental health services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Education and Experience: Masters' Degree in a related health discipline from an approved post-secondary institution and current practicing registration with the Professional Practice Body of the discipline.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team and lead our mental health services with expertise and confidence.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, and to teach using child/adult education principles.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to organize workload and set priorities, and to plan, organize, and evaluate patient care.
Requirements
  • Education and Training: Masters' Degree in a related health discipline from an approved post-secondary institution.
  • Registration and Certification: Current practicing registration with the Professional Practice Body of the discipline.
  • Experience: Three years' recent related experience in mental health services, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of current theories, technologies, legislation, and practices in mental health services; ability to work independently and as part of a team; and ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
