Janitorial Worker

This position is with an Equal Opportunity Employer on a calendar year basis and offers a wide range of assignments in a smoke-free environment.

The Board operates 21 schools in 13 communities covering 7851 square kilometers for the welfare of 4,580 pupils.

• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the school premises, adhering to high standards of maintenance and upkeep.
• Perform regular fire safety checks and record-keeping, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Carry out grounds maintenance, including snow removal, lawn care, and watering, as required.
• Provide security services as needed, ensuring the safety and security of the building and its occupants.
• Identify and report safety hazards, actively participating in emergency response situations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

• Minimum one year of experience in commercial or institutional janitorial work.
• Ability to lift in excess of 25 pounds.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Training in and experience with WHMIS is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, yard maintenance, cleaning procedures, fire extinguishers, and security systems.
