Job Responsibilities

As a Framing Technician, you will play a crucial role in the construction, assembly, and repair of structures utilizing wood, plywood, and various materials in both commercial and residential projects. This position demands strict adherence to safety protocols, precision in work, and a solid understanding of construction blueprints. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in large-scale wood construction, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.

Key Duties Include:

Construction and Assembly:

  • Assemble prefabricated wooden structures such as walls.
  • Frame and sheath floors, decks, roofs, and stairways according to blueprints and project specifications.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials using hand tools, power tools, or woodworking machinery.
  • Install windows, doors, and other fixtures within the frame.

Blueprint Analysis:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical diagrams to ascertain dimensions and materials needed for specific projects.
  • Maintain attention to architectural and structural details.
  • Ensure all framing complies with project specifications and building codes.

Material Management:

  • Select suitable materials for framing tasks, ensuring efficient resource use.
  • Ensure all materials meet quality standards and are stored appropriately to prevent damage.

Qualifications Required:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a wood framer or carpenter in commercial construction.
  • Proven experience with large-scale commercial framing projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and tools used in wood framing.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications.
  • Skilled in using hand and power tools such as saws, nail guns, hammers, levels, and drills.
  • Excellent measurement and mathematical skills, with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Good physical stamina and capability to lift heavy materials.
  • Valid Driver's License or reliable means of transportation to project sites.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
