Heavy Equipment Operator

As a key member of our team at McNally Contractors, the Excavator Operator will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heavy construction equipment, specifically an excavator. This position requires a high level of skill and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate an excavator/hoe and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill as necessary to maintain peak performance.
- Work collaboratively with ground personnel to excavate and install pipe online and grade, ensuring accurate and efficient execution.
- Ensure trenches are excavated to the proper depth/grade, and that pipe is placed correctly.
- Follow directions from ground crew regarding craning, gravel placement and grading, and work to minimize delays.
- Cut grade with minimal time spent on excavating to ensure production is on schedule.
Working Environment/Conditions:
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which may involve exposure to inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
- Work overtime as required, and be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 20 LBS on a regular basis.
- May be required to work out of town on a regular basis.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with experience in related construction activities.
- 2-3 years' experience operating an excavator/hoe and other heavy equipment is required.
- Valid Ground Disturbance certificate.
- Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements.
- Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
- Valid Class 5 Operator's License, with clean Driver Abstract.
