About the Role

Alberta Health Services is seeking a skilled Health Care Aide to join our Home Living team. As a Health Care Aide, you will provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care and support to clients in a community setting, including assistance with activities of daily living and support services.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, families, and caregivers to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs.
  • Observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Requirements
  • Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS HCP) certification.
  • Excellent communication and assessment skills.
  • Ability to apply health and safety principles in delivering care to clients in the community.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others and set priorities by organizing and scheduling work-related activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in the health care field and work with older or chronically ill individuals.
  • Medication Assistance Certificate or prior experience in Medication Assistance.
