We are currently in search of a Quality Assurance Inspector for the day shift. This hands-on role will support the Quality Assurance department in ensuring compliance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and client specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in quality assurance within a consumer-packaged goods setting, proficiency in various software applications (including Microsoft Office and ERP systems), and a readiness to embrace new challenges in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the consistent application of current QA programs and adherence to internal SOPs, as well as compliance with SQF, CFIA, and client standards;
- Manage sensory guidelines for incoming and outgoing bulk and finished products;
- Oversee retention samples and product storage for all clients;
- Supervise the proper disposal of food products and complete necessary documentation;
- Prepare for new product launches, ensuring all requirements are fulfilled;
- Draft, review, and implement new operational policies and procedures as directed by the QA Manager;
- Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality and safety of our processes;
- Assist in the updates and maintenance of the company's food safety and quality programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
- Monitor production lines and quality reports daily to uphold client quality and food safety standards;
- Review daily shift reports for accuracy in lot traceability and quality checks;
- Conduct environmental, ATP, and allergen testing as necessary;
- Perform water testing and sampling when required;
- Ensure adherence to allergen protocols and compliance with quality and food safety standards;
- Conduct monthly internal audits with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities;
- Verify completion of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks and maintain accurate records;
- Oversee daily and monthly hold logs to ensure they are current;
- Lead corrective action processes based on deviations or client feedback;
- Maintain the pest control program and coordinate with operators to meet company and regulatory standards;
- Promote a culture of defect prevention rather than detection;
- Support client and government audits to ensure compliance;
- Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the Quality Management System (QMS), including managing controlled documents and employee training;
- Adhere to all company health and safety policies and comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in quality assurance within food processing or packaging;
- Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, and Quality Management Systems;
- Post-secondary education in Quality Assurance or Food Science is advantageous.
Essential Skills:
- Self-motivated individual who thrives under pressure and possesses excellent time management abilities;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments;
- Basic knowledge of allergen and pathogen testing techniques;
- Understanding of quality auditing and inspection methodologies;
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities, able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities;
- Exceptional reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
