Job Title: Chemical Procurement Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Procurement Associate to join our team at LGC Group. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for sourcing chemicals, selected consumables, and negotiating pricing from suppliers in the most efficient way, while meeting our technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sourcing and Negotiation: Source and negotiate chemicals for re-sale, inventory, starting material/raw material, and for ongoing projects in the most cost-effective manner based on price, quality, and lead-time.
  • Supplier Performance Monitoring: Work with suppliers to improve the safety of chemical delivery to our facility, conduct evaluation and selection of suppliers, and communicate with suppliers regarding reasons for rejection or re-buy/re-source products when required.
  • Inventory Management: Analyze inventory level status reports to ensure inventory is not depleted and replenished effectively, assess history and trends in decision-making process for above, reviewing inventory levels of back-ordered and lower stock items.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify improvement opportunities and participate in establishing the department's performance metrics and CI programs, prepare and update assigned department SOPs, Work Instructions, and Task Instructions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Chemistry, with knowledge of chemical structures and terminology preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in chemical procurement preferred (3-5 years).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication, and time management skills.
  • Task-oriented self-starter that takes initiative to get things done.
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Planning and organizing.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Reliable and dependable with a good work ethic.
  • Works well within stipulated timelines and able to meet deadlines.
  • Previous experience with FileMaker, ERP is an asset.
