Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Stationary Engineer to join our team in Toronto. This role is crucial for maintaining the smooth operation of our industrial powerhouse, ensuring reliable power supply and essential utilities for our production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor oil/gas fired boilers, deaerators, water softeners, steam distribution systems, condensate return systems, air compressors, HVAC systems, fire protection systems, chilled water systems, lake water pumps, wastewater systems, and other related equipment.
  • Perform routine Steam Power Plant duties, including starting, operating, maintaining, and monitoring turbines, high-pressure boilers, industrial HVAC equipment, air compressors, and associated auxiliaries according to established procedures and TSSA authorization.
  • Assist the Shift Operating Engineer with power plant startups and shutdowns as scheduled.
  • Provide shift relief as required in accordance with Operating Engineers Regulations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Occupational Health and Safety legislation, guidelines, standards, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Implement isolation, lockout, clearance, and safe work permits on designated equipment. Verify the presence of guards and safety lockouts, and maintain associated records and documentation.
  • Comply with environmental legislation requirements for all powerhouse activities.
  • Maintain, monitor, and conduct routine tests on fire protection systems and associated equipment. Coordinate the work of designated fire protection contractors to ensure continuous and reliable plant protection.
  • Participate in maintenance planning and repair of equipment. Carry out preventative maintenance tasks to ensure all systems are fully functional at all times.
  • Maintain accurate daily documentation and records.
  • Coordinate and schedule outside contractor work in accordance with safety, quality, and plant production rules.

Qualifications

  • A valid Ontario Second Class Operating Engineer Certificate is required. Third Class Operating Engineer candidates currently pursuing their Second Class with at least 50% of exams completed will be considered.
  • Third Class Candidates are preferred, but must be capable of obtaining a Third Class Operating Engineer certificate within one year of employment.
  • Strong understanding of industrial power systems and equipment operation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to regulations.
