Building Enforcement Inspector

The City of Mississauga is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Enforcement Inspector to join our Building team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safer built environment for all construction projects.
Duties and Responsibilities- Investigate complaint referrals from the public, Council, and internal staff to ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code.
- Prepare and maintain accurate investigation and enforcement-related reports.
- Prepare Building Code Act Orders and initiate legal action as required.
- Respond to related enquiries from the public and internal staff.
- Present a professional image to the public at all times.
- Qualify and maintain qualifications as referenced in the Ontario Building Code.
- Work in coordination with other Building Division staff, other City departments, and external agencies.
- Certified Engineering/Architectural Technologist or post-secondary education related to building design and/or construction.
- Minimum of 2 years directly related work experience; municipal experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Building Code Act, Ontario Building Code, and other applicable law.
- Qualified as referenced in Division C Section 3.1.4. of the Ontario Building Code.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting building design drawings.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
- Certified or eligible for certification as a Certified Building Code Official is desirable.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $76, $101,753.00 Hours of Work: 35 Work Location: Civic Centre Department/Division/Section: P&B/Planning & Building Dept, P&B/Building Division, Inspection Services Non-Union/Union: Non Union
