Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Certified Mechanic to join our team in Abbotsford. As a GSE Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our ground support equipment (GSE), which is essential for our firefighting missions.

Responsibilities
  • Equipment Inspection: Conduct routine inspections of GSE to identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Perform pre-use checks to ensure optimal operational readiness.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Execute preventive maintenance tasks according to manufacturer guidelines. Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, performing necessary repairs promptly. Collaborate with the maintenance team on complex technical issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repair activities. Document inspection results and provide detailed reports on equipment condition.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and ensure all maintenance activities comply with industry regulations and standards. Participate in safety training programs to stay updated on best practices and regulations.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to ensure the availability of necessary components for timely repairs. Procure parts from suppliers as needed.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance and operational teams to ensure seamless ground support operations. Provide technical support to other departments as required.
Qualifications
  • Technical certification in equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Proven experience as a GSE Technician or in a similar role within the aviation industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with aviation ground support equipment and their maintenance requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have mechanical experience (Red Seal).
  • Electrical experience is an asset.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
