POSITION SUMMARY
The Environmental Services Associate operates within various departments, primarily focusing on the Dietary and Environmental Services sectors. This role encompasses responsibilities related to food preparation, service, and maintaining cleanliness across the facility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Accurately interprets recipes and product guidelines, aiding in the preparation of both hot and cold meals while ensuring proper food storage and understanding temperature regulations to prevent spoilage.
2. Organizes food service stations with a variety of offerings including entrees, soups, salads, and beverages, while ensuring timely replenishment and maintaining cleanliness at the conclusion of meal periods.
3. Utilizes various kitchen tools and equipment for tasks such as measuring, mixing, washing, and serving food items.
4. Adheres to established policies and procedures, ensuring that all operational protocols are followed, including opening and closing duties.
5. Conducts thorough cleaning and sanitization of work areas and equipment in compliance with organizational standards and health regulations.
6. Responsible for inventory management within the service area, including record-keeping and requisitioning supplies as necessary.
7. Engages positively with clients, providing assistance and ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
8. Participates in mandatory training sessions and contributes to team committees as required.
9. Executes general housekeeping and laundry tasks as needed, including deep cleaning of specific areas upon request.
10. Manages the delivery and distribution of personal items to resident rooms and oversees the exchange of linens and waste management processes.
11. Aids in the orientation of new personnel and plays an active role in infection control initiatives.
12. Supports quality management practices through participation in audits and assessments.
13. Upholds Resident Safety principles in all daily activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promptly reporting any potential risks.
14. Works in accordance with health and safety legislation, maintaining confidentiality as per applicable privacy laws.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Completion of Grade 12 OSSD.
• Successful completion of Food Handler and Proton Training Programs.
• Smart Serve Certification is preferred.
• Ability to effectively follow both verbal and written instructions, with strong communication skills for interacting with residents and staff.
• A recent Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required at the time of hiring.
• TB testing results must be documented as per Public Health requirements.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
• Previous experience in a related field is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• This position is situated within a long-term care facility, where exposure to various health-related risks may occur.
• Work schedules will vary, including potential shifts during days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
