Your key responsibilities will encompass:

Program Development and Implementation

Lead and facilitate recreational, social, and fitness programs while guiding Program Staff, students, and volunteers involved in these initiatives. Collaborate with team members to assign specific tasks for each activity. Oversee the preparation and maintenance of program materials and equipment, ensuring proper setup and cleanup. Engage in program assessments to evaluate effectiveness and inform future programming decisions. Explore and introduce innovative program concepts.

Client Engagement and Support

Develop personalized care plans tailored to individual client needs. Design and implement programs that foster engagement through recreational and social activities. Conduct leisure assessments during client intake and annually thereafter. Encourage and motivate clients using individualized approaches, while monitoring their physical, mental, and emotional health. Document and report any Client Safety Events as required. Conduct tours for clients and their families.

Administrative Duties

Create and distribute monthly activity calendars for clients. Keep clients and caregivers informed about progress and updates. Manage inventory and ensure timely replacement of equipment and supplies. Maintain accurate documentation and inform Supervisors of any changes or incidents related to the activities program. Participate in internal committees to support agency initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess:

A Diploma or Certificate in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, or a related field; an Activationist background is a plus. A minimum of one year of experience working with older adults experiencing mental health challenges. A solid understanding of program planning, execution, and evaluation, utilizing recreation and leisure as therapeutic modalities. The ability to serve as a resource and support for fellow team members. Exceptional organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively. Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, and strong documentation abilities. Current certification in CPR and First Aid. Immunizations for tuberculosis, varicella (chickenpox), mumps, and hepatitis B. A recent Vulnerable Sector Police check completed within the last year.

This role requires full vaccination against COVID-19, with proof of vaccination to be provided prior to employment.
