Position Overview: We are seeking a Vice President of Internal Audit specializing in Financial and Insurance Risk. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the formulation and execution of the audit strategy.
  • Communicate and report on the effectiveness of the control framework to relevant stakeholders.

  • Manage the team, ensuring a robust people strategy is in place for recruitment, leadership, and development.
  • Enhance team performance and professional growth.

  • Support various levels of Internal Audit reporting, including Audit Committee documentation.

Audit Plan Development:

  • Facilitate the creation and execution of the Financial and Insurance Risk components of the audit plan, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of the associated risks.
  • Manage resource allocation, scheduling, and audit focus through risk analysis and professional judgment.
  • Identify needs and coordinate with specialists to ensure expert knowledge is applied in Financial and Insurance Risk audits.

Audit Reviews:

  • Lead a series of Financial and Insurance Risk audit reviews, ensuring quality control and adherence to standards.
  • Deliver high-quality, concise audit findings and reports in a timely manner.
  • Oversee issue tracking conducted by the audit team.
  • Engage in senior-level partner and relationship management within the organization.
  • Ensure that audit engagement objectives are consistently met.
  • Maintain quality control across the portfolio of reviews in accordance with established audit methodologies.

Committee Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of reports for key collaborators, such as Audit Committees and Risk Committees, to influence management actions for a more effective control framework.

Methodology Development: Ensure the proper application and continuous improvement of the Internal Audit methodology.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing the operational efficiency of the audit team.

IA Projects: Participate in and lead broader Internal Audit initiatives and projects as needed.

People Management: Implement effective people management practices aligned with Aviva's approach, including setting objectives and development plans.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience, with a professional qualification preferred.
  • Professional audit, risk, accounting, or actuarial qualification or equivalent business experience required.
  • In-depth knowledge of Financial, Commercial, and Insurance Risk.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Expertise in risk identification and measurement.
  • Strong audit integrity and methodological skills.
  • Extensive experience in audit, risk, or financial/actuarial roles, preferably within the insurance sector or financial services consulting.
  • Proficient knowledge of financial, risk, and insurance topics.
  • Experience in leading complex projects and managing senior-level relationships.
