Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Tax Partners, this role is integral in managing a diverse range of tax files and planning projects. The successful candidate will assist clients with various tax-related issues, provide research and technical support, identify and resolve issues, and contribute to the marketing efforts of the practice. Additionally, this position involves supervising and mentoring tax staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns, as well as partnership information returns.
  • Engage in tax planning projects for owner-managed Canadian domestic clients.
  • Offer inbound advisory services to international cross-border clients.
  • Play a pivotal role in managing processes and procedures during the tax season.
  • Perform research for both internal and client-related needs.
  • Draft correspondence for internal use, client engagements, and communication with tax authorities.
  • Identify technical challenges, conduct research, propose solutions, and implement them effectively.
  • Participate in analyzing new legislation and developing planning strategies for clients.
  • Prepare and deliver professional development seminars.
  • Coach and mentor team members while delegating assignments appropriately.
  • Actively engage in all phases of client engagements, including budgeting, work-in-progress analysis, invoice drafting, and accounts receivable management.
  • Promote the firm's services to potential clients.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in tax within a public accounting environment, including at least 1 year in a managerial capacity.
  • Possession of a CPA designation and completion of the In-Depth Tax Program.
  • Familiarity with CaseWare and Tax Prep software.
  • Experience working with owner-managed clients.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to address inquiries from clients and other stakeholders.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities for both practical and complex issues.
  • Excellent research and information-gathering skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage workflow, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to take a leadership role in engagements.
  • Solid understanding of business professionalism and teamwork.
