Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare meals according to established standards, procedures, recipes, and menus, including special meals to accommodate therapeutic dietary modifications.
  • Assist in food preparation for special events (e.g., catering, themed dinners) to ensure service meets established quality standards.
  • Report any shortages, discrepancies, or quality concerns regarding recipes to the Executive Chef or supervisor promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the cooking station daily; ensure kitchen equipment such as ovens, kettles, and mixers are cleaned according to legislative and organizational standards.
  • Adhere to disposal procedures in line with established waste management guidelines for organics, paper, plastics, cans/bottles, and non-recyclable materials.

Candidate Profile

  • A Culinary Arts Diploma and a valid Red Seal Certificate.
  • A valid Food Handler's certificate.
  • Experience in large quantity food preparation.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed recipes and instructions.
  • Clear criminal record check.
  • A passion for the healthcare sector and commitment to ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care.
