Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our team at Back In Motion, focusing on rehabilitation services within Long-Term Care settings.

Program: Long-Term Care Rehabilitation Services

Status: Permanent

Hours: Part-Time

Compensation: Competitive remuneration package offered.

Eligibility: This opportunity is available only to individuals legally authorized to work in Canada.

Role Summary:

The successful candidate will provide essential rehabilitation services to residents in designated Long-Term Care facilities. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, making recommendations, and prescribing necessary equipment for residents referred for assessments.

You will also act as a valuable resource and educator for both staff and residents/families regarding equipment recommendations and usage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and facilitate access to funding through the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) to address equipment needs, ensuring compliance with all ADP documentation and guidelines.
  • Implement, monitor, and adjust equipment to support resident and family goals related to seating, positioning, and functional improvement.
  • Provide educational sessions for in-house staff on adaptive equipment and ergonomic practices to prevent workplace injuries.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a registrant in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario or the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  • Certification as an Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Authorizer is required.
  • Completion of a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) upon hiring.
  • Must be up-to-date on required vaccinations, including influenza, MMR, DTaP, varicella, and TB skin test.
  • Experience in evidence-based musculoskeletal and neurological practices, emphasizing functional outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and clinical reasoning abilities.
  • Demonstrated compassion and care in interactions with residents and their families.

Preferred qualifications include experience delivering Occupational Therapy services to the geriatric population in integrated care environments, particularly within Long-Term Care settings. Expertise in the fitting and prescription of adaptive equipment, wheelchairs, scooters, seating aids, and orthotic devices is highly desirable.
