Gas Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled Gas Controller to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our pipeline operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our gas pipeline system.
Key Responsibilities- Control Room Operations: Monitor and control the flow of gas in our pipeline system, ensuring safe and efficient operating conditions.
- Pipeline Maintenance: Coordinate with field personnel to perform maintenance and repairs on pipeline facilities.
- Data Analysis: Analyze pipeline data, including pressures and flow rates, to identify potential problems and optimize pipeline operations.
- Reporting and Record-Keeping: Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports on pipeline operations and maintain accurate records of system activity.
- Communication: Liaise with other departments, including Measurement, Marketing, and Engineering, to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Technical Expertise: Design and maintain computer applications to perform Gas Control accounting, reporting, and data archival functions.
- Problem-Solving: Evaluate current demand and make adjustments to storage supply to bring demand in balance.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop new methods and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in pipeline operations.
- Education: Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a directly related field, such as Power Engineering or Gas Processing.
- Registration: Registered or eligible for registration with ASTTBC.
- Experience: Five years of directly related experience in control room, pipeline operations, plant operations, field instrumentation, pipeline hydraulics planning, or design engineering.
- Skills: Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pipeline hydraulics, gas processes, pipeline operations, field equipment, compression, and control systems.
- Computer Literacy: Intermediate level computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft products and other applicable software.
- Communication: Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and ability to exchange technical information.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to organize and evaluate data and make related, logical decisions.
