Medical Laboratory Assistant II

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Laboratory Assistant II to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will play a critical role in supporting the laboratory team in the collection, preparation, and testing of specimens, as well as performing related clerical and laboratory support functions.
Key Responsibilities- Collect, prepare, and test specimens under the supervision of the Chief Technologist or designate.
- Perform inpatient and/or outpatient Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, and/or Holter monitor testing as required.
- Explain test procedures to patients and provide excellent customer service.
- Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, plus one (1) year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to type at 25 wpm.
