Biomedical Engineering Technologist - Nova Scotia Health

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Engineering Technologist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Biomedical Engineering Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of medical devices and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair, maintain, and calibrate life support and other medical devices
  • Maintain medical computers and networks
  • Assist in the training of physicians, nurses, therapists, and other technical staff
  • Perform safety performance and routine inspections on electronic, electrical, and mechanical equipment and systems

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a two-year course in Electronics Engineering Technology (accredited diploma) required
  • Must be registered or eligible to be registered with TechNova as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) within two (2) years of hire
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Must have working knowledge/training of electronics with the ability to understand the operation and have manual skills required to repair, calibrate, perform safety, performance routine inspections on electronic, electrical, mechanical, and optical equipment, devices, systems, and instruments
  • Specialized training in advanced biomedical equipment such as Anesthesia and Respiratory would be an asset
  • Training on various OR technology and laboratory equipment would be an asset
  • Knowledge of networking medical devices would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Certification as a Certified Biomedical Engineering Technologist (CBET(C)) with the Canadian Board of Examiners for Biomedical Engineering and Dialysis Technologists and Technicians is required for achievement of step 5 of the pay scale for this position
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

What We Offer:

  • Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • $28.89 - $38.67 Hourly
  • Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan
  • This position is currently eligible for a Market Adjustment of approximately $10,000.00 annually
