We are a leading manufacturer of high-quality foam products, and we are seeking a skilled Upholstery Craftsman to join our team.

Job Summary

The Upholstery Craftsman will be responsible for restoring and reupholstering furniture to its original glory, using a range of techniques and materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Restoration and Reupholstery: Use a variety of techniques and materials to restore and reupholster furniture, including replacing worn-out webbing, springs, and other furniture parts.
  • Upholstery Fabrication: Lay out, cut, fabricate, and install upholstery, using a range of materials and techniques.
  • Trim and Ornamentation: Tack, glue, or sew ornamental trim, braids, or buttons to add a finishing touch to our furniture.
  • Furniture Repair: Repair furniture frames and refinish wood surfaces to ensure our products are of the highest quality.
  • Operational Efficiency: Operate sewing machines or sew by hand to ensure efficient production and high-quality results.
Work Environment and Physical Capabilities
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure our products meet the highest standards.
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Possess good hand-eye coordination to perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Settlement Support: Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees, including housing, transportation, storage, childcare, and winter clothing.
  • Social and Labour Market Integration: Support the social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees, including facilitating access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
  • Credential Recognition: Support newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition.
  • Mentorship Programs: Offer mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees.
Support for Youths
  • On-the-Job Training: Offer on-the-job training tailored to youth.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for youth.
  • Welcoming Work Environment: Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
Support for Veterans
  • Targeted Hiring Initiatives: Recruit Veterans and other candidates with military experience through targeted hiring initiatives, including job fairs and outreach programs.
Support for Indigenous People
  • Cultural Competency Training: Provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
  • Relationships with Indigenous Communities: Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
