Job Title: Intermediate Structural Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team at Egis Canada. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and managing structural engineering projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare engineering service proposals for senior review and approval
  • Perform field inspections and reviews for various construction projects to ensure compliance with design specifications and building codes
  • Liaise with clients, government agencies, and contractors to ensure effective communication and project delivery
  • Lead the engineering design and manage project teams, schedules, and budgets for a variety of projects
  • Provide technical direction and peer review for junior team members to ensure high-quality designs and deliverables
  • Design and stamp medium to complex structural designs, including building permits and tenders
  • Prepare technical specifications and reports for clients and stakeholders
  • Maintain a technical advisory role for clients throughout the project term, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Oversee and provide construction review services to ensure compliance with design specifications and building codes
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery and meet client expectations
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety rules and regulations, and report any incidents or near-misses to management
Requirements:
  • University degree in Structural Engineering or related field
  • At least 5 years of design experience on structural engineering projects, with a strong understanding of building codes and design standards
  • Experience with residential light timber design is an asset
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, in good standing, or the ability to obtain designation within 6 months
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Quebec is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada and Canadian design standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, and Revit, with experience in structural finite element engineering design software such as SFRAME, ETABS, SAP, and Woodworks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate in French as an asset
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team
  • Possess a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance
