The Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) is a key member of our team at Clearpoint Health Network Inc., responsible for operating and maintaining radiology equipment, performing standard radiological examinations, and preparing patients for procedures. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure radiology equipment and auxiliary equipment function correctly and are maintained properly, following documented safe operating procedures.
- Quality Assurance: Perform quality assurance and quality control activities according to equipment manufacturer's instructions and industry standards.
- Patient Care: Prepare patients for radiological procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process.
- Image Management: Ensure all images are saved and filed in the appropriate medical record.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including handling personal information and personal health information according to governing privacy legislation.
- Education: Completion of a diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program.
- Registration: Active registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
- Certifications: Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
- Experience: Must have experience with fluoroscopy in an operating room environment.
- Recent Experience: Recent, relevant experience as an MRT performing procedures in general diagnostic imaging and fluoroscopy.
- Independent Judgment: Demonstrated competence in radiological procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative.
- Communication Skills: Must be able to comprehend, speak, read, and write English fluently and be understood by others with whom they are in contact.
- Organization Skills: Good organization skills and ability to assume responsibility.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with various levels of personnel in an inter-disciplinary environment.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure, with demonstrated problem-solving and critical analysis skills.
- Physical Demands: Must be in good physical health and be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time without resting.
