About the Role

The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team and contribute to maintaining law and order in our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain public safety and order by responding to emergency calls and engaging with the community.
  • Work closely with other officers and support staff to achieve our mission of providing a safe and secure community for all.
Requirements:
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Have completed Basic Constable Training or equivalent.
  • Have successfully completed a probationary period with a police service.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years policing experience (an asset).
  • Be in good standing with your current or previous service.
Working Conditions:
  • Work a 24/7 shift schedule, including days, afternoons, evenings, and nights.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions and uncomfortable environments.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Training and Development:
  • Attend the Ottawa Police Professional Development center for training.
  • May be required to write a provincial qualifying exam.
Selection Process:
  • A cover letter and detailed resume.
  • A valid fitness test.
  • Valid Emergency First Aid and Level C CPR certification.
  • A copy of your Basic Constable Training Diploma.
