**Education and Training:**
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
- Graduate of a recognized Perinatal Nursing specialty program.
**Certifications and Licenses:**
- Current CPR Basic Rescuer.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certificate.
- Fetal Health Surveillance Course Certificate.
- Breastfeeding Course Certificate.
**Work Experience:**
- Two (2) years recent related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- **Nursing Skills:**
- Ability to apply the nursing process effectively in a well-organized manner to the care of assigned patients as required by the hospital and described in BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice.
- **Leadership and Communication:**
- Demonstrate sound organizational, problem-solving, and teaching skills.
- Demonstrate good judgment, observation, and patient assessment skills.
- Demonstrate respectful workplace skills, such as politeness, tact, and empathy.
- Prioritize and organize patient demands and care needs.
- Operate related equipment.
- Provide leadership in emergency situations.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Assume charge responsibility as needed.
- Foster and promote good public relations.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to remain calm and to act appropriately in stressful and emergency situations.
