Position Summary

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will serve as the primary liaison between Design Engineering and Manufacturing. You'll be responsible for coordinating all product design changes for our manufacturing facility, ensuring seamless integration between design concepts and production capabilities.

Performance Expectations
  • Develop comprehensive concept designs, detailed engineering drawings, and supporting calculations, adhering to strict specifications and manufacturing constraints.
  • Spearhead the implementation of product-related modifications for existing products within a continuous improvement framework. Focus on enhancing warranty performance, simplifying assembly processes, and expanding product offerings for production.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to the bill of materials (BOM).
  • Maintain meticulous documentation for all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring clarity and traceability.
  • Analyze equipment failures and operational difficulties to pinpoint root causes and propose effective solutions for improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to devise cost-effective design solutions that address technical challenges.
  • Provide valuable support in reviewing detailed designs, assemblies, and BOMs for assigned projects.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate Design Engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Apply a wide range of established or modified engineering methods and techniques with considerable independence.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Credentials
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Preference will be given to candidates registered or working towards their professional engineering designation.
Desired Characteristics
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical/Electrical designer within a heavy equipment (or related) manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical design principles, GD&T, DFMEA, welding/fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks (formal training preferred); experience with FEA is highly desirable.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical design, GD&T, DFMEA, welding/fabrication processes, hydraulic controls, and general electrical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional technical teams and manufacturing personnel.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
