Job Title: Family Law Attorney

About the Role:

Gpac is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Law Attorney to join our team. As a Family Law Attorney, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and property division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned caseload: You will be responsible for managing a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and property division.
  • Draft and respond to correspondence: You will be responsible for drafting and responding to correspondence related to family law matters.
  • Prepare pleadings, financial disclosures, mediation, and trial briefs: You will be responsible for preparing pleadings, financial disclosures, mediation, and trial briefs related to family law matters.
  • Telephone and in-person contact with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts: You will be responsible for telephone and in-person contact with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts related to family law matters.
  • Prepare witness questions for evidentiary hearings, depositions, and trials: You will be responsible for preparing witness questions for evidentiary hearings, depositions, and trials related to family law matters.
  • Track billable time: You will be responsible for tracking billable time related to family law matters.
  • Assist the supervising lawyers in all phases of the practice: You will be responsible for assisting the supervising lawyers in all phases of the practice.

Qualifications:

  • Must be admitted to the Ontario Bar: You must be admitted to the Ontario Bar to be eligible for this position.
  • 2-3+ Years Practicing Family Law: You must have 2-3+ years of experience practicing family law to be eligible for this position.
  • Empathetic, and level-headed demeanor to properly handle sensitive family law matters: You must have an empathetic and level-headed demeanor to properly handle sensitive family law matters.
  • Possess strong analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills: You must possess strong analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills: You must have attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills.
